Krishna’s Theophanic Display in the Kuru Assembly
teṣām etam abhiprāyam ācacakṣe smayann iva | dharmād arthāc ca kāmāc ca karma sādhu-vigarhītam ||
An action that departs from dharma, artha, and kāma—i.e., from righteous duty, rightful statecraft/prosperity, and legitimate desire—is judged blameworthy by the virtuous. The verse frames political intent as ethically accountable, not merely strategic.
Sātyaki enters the royal assembly and reports to Keśava (Kṛṣṇa), and also informs Dhṛtarāṣṭra and Vidura, about the Kauravas’ underlying intention—portrayed as a morally censured course of action.
