Educational Q&A

Choose reconciliation over escalation: making peace prevents one from becoming bound to actions that generate adharma and lasting disgrace. Ethical governance includes safeguarding one’s moral standing and the welfare of the realm by avoiding unjust conflict.

Vaiśampāyana reports a counsel directed to a leading Bharata prince/warrior, urging him to conclude a peace (sandhi) with the Pāṇḍavas. The appeal is framed in moral and political terms—war-driven deeds would bring unrighteousness and infamy, whereas peace aligns with dharma.
