Educational Q&A

The verse highlights disciplined discourse: one should first listen carefully to another’s full account and then respond appropriately. It models ethical communication—hearing, weighing, and replying with responsibility, especially in matters involving dharma and royal duty.

Nārada narrates that after Gālava speaks at length, King Uśīnara listens to those varied statements and then gives his reply, marking a transition from Gālava’s speech to the king’s response in the ongoing conversation.
