Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Collapse and Vyāsa’s Counsel

The verse emphasizes the authority of prior counsel and testimony: what is being stated now had already been formally communicated earlier by a revered sage. Ethically, it implies that leaders bear responsibility to remember and act upon wise warnings given in public, especially in matters affecting the realm.
Vyāsa addresses the listener and notes that Nārada had previously presented this information to Yudhiṣṭhira in the royal assembly during the Rājasūya sacrifice, indicating continuity of the account and reinforcing its credibility.
