Yudhiṣṭhira uvāca: kathaṃ dharme sthātum icchan rājā varteta dhārmikaḥ? pṛcchāmi tvāṃ kuruśreṣṭha tan me brūhi pitāmaha.
由提施提罗说道:“噢,俱卢族中最卓越者,敬爱的祖父啊,若一位正义之王愿恒常安住于达摩,他当如何行事?我向您请问——愿您为我开示。”
युधिछिर उवाच
The verse frames the central problem of rājadharma: a king who genuinely wants to abide by dharma must learn the concrete standards of conduct—how to rule, judge, and act so that power remains aligned with righteousness.
In the Śānti Parva’s instruction on peace and governance, Yudhiṣṭhira turns to the elder Bhīṣma as an authoritative teacher and asks for practical guidance on how a righteous ruler should live and govern while staying rooted in dharma.
