The chapter-colophon highlights a key rajadharma principle: a ruler must carefully examine and select ministers, since the quality of counsel determines the justice, stability, and ethical direction of governance. The text uses an illustrative tale (upākhyāna) to sharpen discernment about character and competence.
This is a concluding colophon stating that the eighty-second chapter has ended. It situates the chapter within Śānti Parva’s royal-duties instruction, noting that the immediate context is the examination of ministers and that the chapter’s subject is the tale of the sage Kālakavṛkṣīya.
