Kuntī’s Timely Counsel to the Grief-Stricken Yudhiṣṭhira
śaśāpa ca mahātejāḥ sarvalokeṣu yoṣitaḥ | na guhāṃ dhārayiṣyantīty evaṃ duḥkhasamanvitaḥ ||
The verse underscores that grief can provoke harmful, sweeping judgments and ethically problematic speech; it implicitly points to the dharmic need for restraint (saṃyama) and careful speech even amid suffering.
Vaiśaṃpāyana narrates that a mighty figure, afflicted with intense sorrow, pronounces a curse directed at women everywhere, stating that they will be unable to keep secrets hidden.
