Power and lineage are not merely matters of conquest; dharma also includes protection and preservation. Even formidable warrior potential (Indra-like valor) may be deliberately safeguarded until it can be used rightly, emphasizing restraint, continuity, and rightful succession.
Vāsudeva describes certain Kṣatriya boys belonging to King Marutta’s line who are being kept safe under the protection of the ocean. He highlights their extraordinary valor—comparable to Indra’s—while stressing that they remain preserved rather than exposed to immediate danger.
