Paraśurāma’s origins and the depletion/restoration of kṣatriya lineages
गुप्त: स गौतमेनासीद् गड्रगकूलेडभिरक्षित: । दथिवाहनका पौत्र और दिविरथका पुत्र भी गड़ातटपर महर्षि गौतमके द्वारा सुरक्षित है
guptaḥ sa gautamenāsīd gaḍragakūleḍabhirakṣitaḥ | dadhivāhanakā pautraḥ divirathakā putro 'pi gaḍātaṭapara maharṣiṇā gautamena rakṣitaḥ ||
婆苏提婆说道:“他曾隐匿其身,受圣者乔达摩庇护,又在伽陀罗迦(Gaḍraga)族人之中被守卫。那位达提瓦哈那(Dadhivāhana)的后裔、底毗罗他(Diviratha)之子,也由大圣乔达摩在伽陀河(Gaḍā)岸边护持周全。”
वासुदेव उवाच
The verse underscores dharma as protective responsibility: a sage upholds righteousness by sheltering and safeguarding someone endangered, showing that moral duty can include discreet protection and refuge.
Vāsudeva recounts that a certain person of royal lineage (descendant of Dadhivāhana and son of Diviratha) was kept hidden and protected by Maharṣi Gautama on the bank of the Gaḍā river, under the guard of the Gaḍraga people.
