इस विश्वकी रचना करनेवाले परमेश्वर! आपको प्रणाम है। विश्वके आत्मा और विश्वकी उत्पत्तिके स्थानभूत जगदीश्वर! आपको नमस्कार है। आप पाँचों भूतोंसे परे हैं और सम्पूर्ण प्राणियोंके मोक्षस्वरूप ब्रह्म हैं ।।
namaḥ te triṣu lokeṣu namaḥ te paratastriṣu | namaḥ te dikṣu sarvāsu tvaṁ hi sarvamayo nidhiḥ ||
礼敬至上主——此世界之造作者;礼敬世间自在者——宇宙之我、万有之所从生。你超越五大,正是众生所求解脱之梵(Brahman)。礼敬你遍满三界;礼敬你亦超越三界;礼敬你遍在一切方所——因为你是万物具足、无尽不竭的宝藏。
भीष्म उवाच
The verse teaches a vision of the Supreme as both immanent and transcendent: present throughout the three worlds and all directions, yet also beyond the three worlds. It frames God/Brahman as the all-containing repository and as the liberating reality (mokṣa-svarūpa) sought by beings.
In the Shanti Parva’s instruction setting, Bhishma speaks in a devotional register, offering salutations and praise to the Supreme Lord. The verse functions as a stotra-like affirmation of the Lord’s cosmic pervasion and supremacy within Bhishma’s broader discourse on dharma and ultimate good.
