Yudhiṣṭhira’s Post-Accession Settlements and Approach to Vāsudeva
labdhapraśamanaṃ kṛtvā sa rājā rājasattamaḥ | yuyutsor dhārtarāṣṭrasya pūjāṃ cakre mahāyaśāḥ ||
A righteous ruler restores peace after conflict through proper settlement and pacification, and he honors merit and loyalty to dharma even when found within the former enemy’s family—thus healing society rather than perpetuating resentment.
After arranging the acquired wealth in a fitting way and completing pacificatory measures, the renowned king (contextually Yudhiṣṭhira) gives special respect to Yuyutsu, Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s son, acknowledging his standing and reinforcing reconciliation in the aftermath of war.
