Shanti Parva Chapter 38: Yudhishthira’s Inquiry into Rajadharma and the Prelude to Approaching Bhishma
pūjitāś ca yayur viprā rājānam abhinandya tam | rājā ca harṣam āpede pāṇḍavaḥ sa-suhṛj-janaḥ ||
The verse highlights the dharmic value of honoring learned and virtuous guests (viprāḥ). Proper respect and hospitality generate auspiciousness and inner joy for the ruler, reinforcing ethical kingship grounded in reverence for wisdom.
After being honored by the king, the brahmin sages bless and congratulate him and then depart. Yudhiṣṭhira, along with his companions and well-wishers, feels great happiness as the encounter concludes on a harmonious, auspicious note.
