अध्याय ३५१ — उञ्छवृत्ति-व्रतसिद्धेः मानुषस्य परमगतिः
Sūrya–Nāga Dialogue on the Perfected Gleaner-Ascetic
एभिम्मया निहन्तव्या दुर्विनीता: सुरारय: । “इसलिये मैं अवतार लेकर इस पृथ्वीकी रक्षा अवश्य करूँगा। ऐसा सोच-विचारकर भगवान् मधुसूदनने जगत्के लिये अवतार ग्रहण करनेके निमित्त अपने अनेक रूपोंकी सृष्टि की अर्थात् वाराह
ebhirmayā nihantavyā durvinītāḥ surārayaḥ |
“凭借这些(手段/形相),我必须诛灭那些桀骜不驯的天神之敌。”在此语境中,叙事说明:主为护持大地而深思,遂决意为世间福祉而示现化身——忆念野猪(婆罗诃,Varāha)、人狮(那罗辛诃,Narasiṃha)、侏儒(婆摩那,Vāmana)以及人身等诸相——以制伏并歼除狂傲的阿修罗势力,护持正法(dharma)。
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse frames righteous force as a duty when it serves the protection of dharma: the divine (or the rightful authority) may be obliged to restrain and destroy arrogant, undisciplined aggressors who threaten cosmic and social order.
Vaiśampāyana narrates a resolve to eliminate the enemies of the gods; the surrounding passage (as reflected in the provided Hindi) elaborates that the Lord, contemplating the earth’s protection, determines to take avatāras—Varāha, Narasiṃha, Vāmana, and human forms—to subdue overbearing demonic forces.
