Educational Q&A

The verse models reverence for the guru and for knowledge itself: Vyāsa is praised as the one who dispels the darkness of ignorance, implying that learning and right understanding are ethical forces that guide dharma.

Vaiśampāyana offers an opening salutation to Vyāsa, recalling his extraordinary birth from Satyavatī and the sage Parāśara on a river-island, and honoring him as a supremely learned, noble sage.
