Adhyāya 348: Nāga–Nīgabhāryā Saṃvāda on Anger, Hope, and Ethical Response
नैव तस्यापरो लोको नायं पार्थिवसत्तम
naiva tasyāparo loko nāyaṃ pārthivasattama
毗舍波衍那说:“对那样的人而言,来世既无更高的世界,今世这尘世之福亦不可得——噢,诸王之最胜者。”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
A moral warning: certain unrighteous conduct leads to a double loss—one loses both the fruits of the next world (apara-loka) and the stability or benefit of this world. Dharma is presented as the basis for welfare in both realms.
Vaiśampāyana continues a didactic passage in Śānti Parva, addressing a king (pārthivasattama) and emphasizing the grave consequences of the condemned behavior being discussed in the surrounding verses.
