Atithi-satkāra and the Consolation of Wise Counsel

vegena mahatā pārtha patannārāyaṇorasi

Educational Q&A

Unchecked force and haste, even when impressive, meet their limit before the supreme principle (Nārāyaṇa). The verse implicitly commends restraint and right understanding over mere momentum and power.

The speaker addresses Arjuna (“Pārtha”) and describes someone plunging with great speed onto Nārāyaṇa’s chest—an image of sudden impact that conveys both dramatic action and the humbling of a force before the divine.
