Educational Q&A

Divine vision is not guaranteed merely by austerity or ritual; it depends on worthiness and, ultimately, the Lord’s grace. The verse underscores humility and cautions against assuming spiritual attainment as an entitlement.

A deity challenges Bṛhaspati, saying that even the gods, despite great austerities and worship with sacrificial offerings, failed to obtain the Lord’s दर्शन (direct vision). Therefore, the deity questions how Bṛhaspati could expect to see the Lord easily.
