Yajña-bhāga-vyavasthā and the Pravṛtti–Nivṛtti Framework
śiṣyāṇāṁ vacanaṁ śrutvā vyāso vedārtha-tattva-vit | parāśarātmajo dhīmān paralokārtha-cintakaḥ ||

True guidance is grounded in Vedic insight and aims at paraloka-artha—lasting spiritual welfare—so a teacher like Vyasa responds to questions with concern for dharma and ultimate good, not merely immediate advantage.
Bhishma describes a moment where Vyasa listens to his disciples’ words; characterized as a knower of Vedic truth and a contemplator of the next-world good, Vyasa prepares to address them from a spiritually oriented perspective.
