Śvetadvīpa-varṇana and Śāstra-pravartana (Śānti Parva 322)
utsavād utsavaṁ yānti svargāt svarga-sukhāt sukham | śraddhayāśnanti dāntāś ca dhanāsthāḥ śubha-kāriṇaḥ ||
Bhīṣma links ethical discipline and faith with auspicious action: those who act with śraddhā, restraint, and beneficence gain progressively higher joys—symbolized as moving from festival to festival and from heaven to heaven.
In Śānti Parva, Bhīṣma instructs Yudhiṣṭhira on dharma and the fruits of righteous conduct. Here he describes the upward course of the virtuous—faithful, self-controlled people who use their prosperity for good and thus attain ever-increasing happiness.
