Educational Q&A

Karmic results are not lost: they remain preserved as if in a trust under the order of dharma/śāstra, and Time eventually brings them to fruition, moving beings toward experiences that correspond to their own deeds.

In Śānti Parva, Bhīṣma instructs Yudhiṣṭhira on dharma and the moral structure of the world. Here he explains how the fruits of actions are safeguarded and, at the proper time, Kāla (Time) draws all beings onward in accordance with their karma.
