Educational Q&A

A seeker of the Supreme should practice vigilant discernment in companionship: avoid association with those who deny dharma, lack compassion, and are rooted in sinful intentions, because such company obstructs ethical clarity and spiritual realization.

In the didactic setting of the Śānti Parva, Vyāsa instructs the listener on conduct conducive to highest knowledge, emphasizing the practical discipline of rejecting harmful influences and maintaining alertness on the path.
