Adhyāya 302: Guṇa-vicāra, Gati-bheda, and the Imperishable State
Yājñavalkya–Janaka
हिरण्यगर्भो भगवानेष बुद्धिरिति स्मृत: । महानिति च योगेषु विरिज्चिरिति चाप्यज:
hiraṇyagarbho bhagavān eṣa buddhir iti smṛtaḥ | mahān iti ca yogeṣu viriñcir iti cāpy ajaḥ |
婆悉吒说道:“由至上主而生、为一切之初生者的圣尊——金胎(Hiraṇyagarbha)——被忆念为‘觉慧’(Buddhi,宇宙智能)。在瑜伽诸论中,他亦称‘大’(Mahān,大原理)。他又名‘毗利阇支’(Viriñci),亦名‘不生者’(Aja)。”
वसिष्ठ उवाच
The verse equates multiple philosophical and devotional names—Buddhi (cosmic intelligence), Mahān/Mahat (the great principle), Viriñci (creator aspect), and Aja (the unborn)—as referring to the same primordial divine principle, Hiraṇyagarbha, emphasizing unity behind different doctrinal vocabularies.
Vasiṣṭha is instructing by identifying the supreme, first-origin principle using terms familiar to different traditions (Sāṅkhya and Yoga), clarifying that these are not competing entities but alternate names for the same cosmic source.
