Welfare, Steadfastness, and Norms of Giving
na caiśiḥ puṇyakarmāṇo yujyante cābhisaṃdhijaiḥ | evaṃvidhaiś ca bahubhir aparaiḥ prākṛter api ||
The verse teaches that a person established in puṇya (merit/virtue) is not easily destroyed by calculated plots or ignoble, low methods; ethical living is presented as a protective moral force against petty malice.
Parāśara is speaking in a didactic context within Śānti Parva, offering moral instruction about the resilience of the virtuous and the limited power of deceitful contrivances against those committed to righteous conduct.
