Mahābhārata 12.293
अभिगम्य च तत् तुष्ट्या दत्तमाहुरभिष्ठतम् । याचितेन तु यद् दत्तं तदाहुर्मध्यमं बुधा:
abhigamya ca tat tuṣṭyā dattam āhur abhiṣṭatam | yācitena tu yad dattaṃ tad āhur madhyamaṃ budhāḥ ||
波罗舍罗说：“自愿之施——亲自前往受者之前，怀着由衷欢喜而布施——被称为最可贵的施与。若是被人求乞之后才施与，智者则称之为中等之施。”
