भीष्म उवाच
The verse highlights that sincere reverence (praṇāma) to the divine—here explicitly to both Śiva as the boon-giver and to Umā—supports the attainment of one’s rightful and desired end (iṣṭā gati). It frames devotion and humility as efficacious spiritual disciplines.
Bhīṣma narrates that the great sage Uśanā (Śukrācārya), after bowing to Mahādeva and Umā, successfully reaches the goal he sought—implying divine favor granted through worship and proper veneration.
