Sāṃkhya–Yoga Distinction and Instruction on Yogic Strength
आनतेनाथ शूलेन पाणिनामिततेजसा । पिनाकमिति चोवाच शूलमुग्रायुध: प्रभु:
ānatena atha śūlena pāṇināmitatejasā | pinākam iti covāca śūlam ugrāyudhaḥ prabhuḥ ||
毗湿摩说:随后,那被无量光辉之主以手按弯的三叉戟,竟化作弓的形状;那位执持可怖兵器的雄伟主宰湿婆,因其被手所“使之俯伏”(ānata),便称此三叉戟为“毗那迦”(Pināka)。此事昭示:神力能将毁灭之器导向有纪律、有目的的形态,而名号亦保存着一桩行为的伦理记忆。
भीष्म उवाच
Even formidable force (a trident) can be redirected into controlled purpose (a bow) under rightful authority; the naming ‘Pināka’ preserves the moral memory that power should be made to ‘bow’ to higher order and discipline.
Śiva bends a trident with his hand; it takes the form of a bow. Because it was made to bow (ānata), Śiva names it ‘Pināka’. Bhīṣma narrates this as part of a larger account in the Śānti Parva.
