Parāśara’s Instruction

The verse expresses śaraṇāgati (surrender): the devotee acknowledges vulnerability, offers reverence, and appeals to the Lord’s compassion, grounding protection not in personal power but in divine grace and steadfast devotion.
Bhishma, speaking in the Shanti Parva, addresses the Lord directly in a devotional appeal—seeking protection, offering salutations, and affirming his enduring status as a devotee of the compassionate Bhagavan.
