Adhyāya 283: Varṇa-vṛtti, Nyāya-ārjana, and the Decline-and-Restoration of Dharma (वर्णवृत्तिः न्यायार्जनं च)
जरायुजाण्डजाश्वैव सहसा स्वेदजोद्धिजै: । ये तथा और भी बहुत-से चतुर्विध प्राणिसमुदाय जरायुज, अण्डज, स्वेदज और उद्भिज्ज वहाँ उपस्थित हुए थे
jarāyujāṇḍajāś caiva sahasā svedajodbhijaiḥ | ye tathā cāpare bahavaś caturvidha-prāṇi-samudāyā jarāyujā aṇḍajāḥ svedajā ud्भिजjāś ca tatra samupasthitā āsan ||
毗湿摩波耶那说道:在那里也同时聚集着四类众生——胎生者、卵生者、湿生者(由汗液或湿气而生)、以及地生者(由大地萌发而出)——并且还有许多其他类似的群类。此段叙述彰显生命秩序之广大与包容:一切出生方式皆汇入同一道德宇宙之中。
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the comprehensive scope of dharmic cosmology: all beings, regardless of how they are born, belong to a single ordered universe. This supports an ethical outlook of inclusivity and reverence toward life in all its forms.
Vaiśampāyana describes an assembly where the four traditional categories of living beings—womb-born, egg-born, moisture-born, and sprout-born—are present together, emphasizing the vastness and completeness of the gathering.
