Parāśara’s Counsel on बुद्धि (Discernment), Karma-Consequences, and Avoidance of Pāpānubandha Actions
ऊचुर्वत्रविनाशार्थ लोकानां हितकाम्यया | तदनन्तर अंगिराके पुत्र श्रीमान् बृहस्पति तथा बड़े-बड़े महर्षियोंने जब वृत्रासुरका पराक्रम देखा
ūcur vṛtra-vināśārthaṁ lokānāṁ hita-kāmyayā | tad-anantaraṁ aṅgirāke putraḥ śrīmān bṛhaspatiḥ tathā ||
毗湿摩曰:为求诸世界之安宁福祉,众圣者祈请诛灭弗利陀罗阿修罗(Vṛtrāsura)。其后,安吉罗萨(Aṅgiras)之子、光辉卓著的布里哈斯帕提(Bṛhaspati),与诸大牟尼同见弗利陀罗阿修罗威势骇人,遂往诣大天(Mahādeva),为众生之利而启请:愿尊神使其覆亡。
भीष्म उवाच
The verse highlights lokahita—acting from the motive of universal welfare. Even powerful beings are opposed not out of hatred but to protect the world’s order; righteous action is framed as a duty undertaken for the common good.
After witnessing Vṛtrāsura’s extraordinary might, Bṛhaspati and other great sages go to Mahādeva (Śiva) and submit a request that Vṛtrāsura be destroyed, motivated by concern for the welfare of the worlds.
