Mokṣa-dharma: Cutting the Bonds of Attachment
गाँव या जनसमुदायमें दायें-बायें न करे--किसीकी पक्ष-विपक्ष न करे तथा भिक्षावृत्तिको छोड़कर किसीके यहाँ पहलेसे निमन्त्रित होकर भोजनके लिये न जाय ।।
avakīrṇaḥ sugupteśnān na vācā hāpriyaṃ vadet | mṛduḥ syād apratikrūro visrabdhaḥ syād akatthanaḥ ||
毗湿摩说:“当不陷入党争纠葛;在村落或人群之中,不可偏袒任何一方,也不可与任何人为敌。既已舍弃以乞食为生,便不可仅因先前受邀就到他人家中求食。应当谨慎自持而食,不出粗厉不悦之言;性情柔和,不以残酷相报;行止安定可信,且永不自夸。”
भीष्म उवाच
Maintain ethical restraint: avoid factionalism, do not depend on social invitations for food, eat with discipline, speak no harsh words, respond without cruelty, remain composed, and avoid boasting.
