A liberation-seeker should renounce household attachment, remain even-minded in gain and loss, and be free from craving even when pleasures are available—embracing the life of a wandering renunciant (parivrājaka).
Bhishma introduces an authoritative ancient example: a teaching attributed to the sage Harita. He urges Yudhishthira to listen, using this traditional account to support guidance on renunciation and inner detachment.
