परिव्राजक-आचारः (Conduct of the Wandering Renunciant) — Mahābhārata, Śānti-parva 269
गृहमेवाभिसंश्रित्य ततो<चन्ये ब्रह्मचारिण: । त एते दिवि दृश्यन्ते ज्योतिर्भूता द्विजातय:
gṛham evābhisaṃśritya tato 'nye brahmacāriṇaḥ | te ete divi dṛśyante jyotirbhūtā dvijātayaḥ ||
迦毗罗说道:“有的依止家住之行,有的以梵行者(brahmacārin)之身而住,各循其戒。若如法圆满所择 āśrama 之职分,便得至高归宿;其后,那些二生者(dvija)在天际显现为光明之众——如群星分布于不同方域——昭示解脱不在外相,而在于对所受命之生活之道的忠实实践。”
कपिल उवाच
Liberation is attainable through sincere observance of one’s chosen āśrama-dharma—householder or brahmacārin—when practiced correctly and ethically; the outer label matters less than disciplined fulfillment of duty.
Kapila describes different life-stages (āśramas) and states that those who properly follow their obligations reach the supreme goal; poetically, they are said to appear in the sky as luminous beings, like stars.
