कालनियमः शोकशमनं च

Kāla as Regulator; Pacification of Grief

अवाप्यैतानि कर्माणि वेदोक्तानि धनंजय । दानमध्ययन यज्ञो निग्रहश्रैव दुर्गह:

Transliteration

vaiśampāyana uvāca |

avāpyaitāni karmāṇi vedoktāni dhanaṃjaya |

dānam adhyayanaṃ yajño nigrahaś caiva durgahaḥ ||

Translation

毗湿摩波耶那说道：“噢，檀那ंज耶（Dhanaṃjaya）！吠陀所规定的行为——布施、研习圣典、祭祀与自制——确实难行。然而，若依凭这些吠陀义务而希求其果报，人便循太阳的南行之路而至天界。我先前已谈过此等奉行仪轨之人所到达的诸世界。”
