मृत्योर्ब्रह्मणा नियोजनम् — The Commissioning of Mṛtyu by Brahmā

कामतो मुच्यमानस्तु धूम्राभ्रादिव चन्द्रमा: । विरजा: कालमाकांक्षन्‌ धीरो धैर्येण वर्तते

kāmato mucyamānas tu dhūmrābhrād iva candramāḥ | virajāḥ kālam ākāṅkṣan dhīro dhairyeṇa vartate ||

毗耶娑说:“坚定之人一旦从欲望中解脱,便得清净,如明月穿出烟霭之云。远离罗阇(rajas,激情与躁动)之尘,他以忍耐与自持安然等待既定之时,沉着而能久忍。”

Educational Q&A

Freedom from desire brings inner clarity and purity. The wise person, no longer driven by rajas (passionate agitation), remains steady and patiently accepts the unfolding of time, practicing endurance rather than restless craving.

Vyāsa describes the state of a desire-freed, disciplined person through a vivid image: like the moon becoming bright when smoky clouds pass, the mind becomes clear when desire loosens. Such a person calmly awaits ‘kāla’—the proper time or the inevitable course of time—without anxiety.
