毗耶娑说:“当太阳立于中央,炽烈的火舌将其吞没遮蔽,四面环覆之时,整个天空仿佛尽被火焰充满,处处都像在燃烧。”
व्यास उवाच
The verse uses cosmic imagery—fire engulfing even the sun—to convey overwhelming transformation and the sense that ordinary order can be eclipsed; it supports Shānti Parva’s reflective tone by pointing to the fragility of worldly stability and the need for dharmic steadiness amid upheaval.
Vyāsa describes a scene where flames rise and spread so intensely that they seem to hide the sun itself, making the entire sky appear packed with fire—an evocative depiction often used to heighten the gravity of the discourse and the atmosphere of portentous change.
