व्यास उवाच
This verse is a colophon rather than a doctrinal statement: it formally closes a chapter in the Mokṣadharma discourse, framing the surrounding material as instruction on liberation (mokṣa) presented through Śuka’s continuing inquiries.
Vyāsa, as narrator/editorial voice, announces that the 231st chapter of the Mokṣadharma section within the Śānti Parva—specifically the portion dealing with Śuka’s follow-up questions—has concluded, indicating a structural break before the next chapter.
