एक: शास्ता न द्वितीयो<5स्ति शास्ता गर्भ शयानं पुरुषं शास्ति शास्ता । तेनानुयुक्त: प्रवणादिवोदकं यथा नियुक्तोडस्मि तथा वहामि
bhīṣma uvāca | ekaḥ śāstā na dvitīyo 'sti śāstā garbhaśayānaṁ puruṣaṁ śāsti śāstā | tenānuyuktaḥ pravaṇādivodakaṁ yathā niyukto 'smi tathā vahāmi ||
毗湿摩说道：“统御者唯有一位，别无第二。正是那位主宰，连卧于胎中的人也加以统摄。受其任命所驱使，众生循他所意之方向而行——正如水依其本性流向低处。如此，我亦依那位主的推动与命令，承担分派于我的重担。”
