Śānti-parva 206: Guṇa-hetu Moha, Kāma-krodha Chain, Indriya-utpatti, and Nirodha
tad brahma paramaṁ proktaṁ taddhāma paramaṁ padam | tad gatvā kālaviṣayād vimuktā mokṣam āśritāḥ ||
The verse identifies the highest goal as Brahman—the supreme state and abode. Realization or attainment of that reality frees one from the jurisdiction of Time (change, decay, death) and culminates in mokṣa, liberation from saṁsāra.
In the Śānti Parva, Bhīṣma instructs Yudhiṣṭhira on dharma and the highest good. Here he concludes a point about the ultimate destination: reaching Brahman brings release from temporal bondage and establishes one in liberation.
