Examination of Faults and Discernment of the Guṇas
सर्वाण्येतानि संवार्य द्वाराणि मनसि स्थित: । मनस्येकाग्रतां कृत्वा तत्परं प्रतिपद्यते
sarvāṇy etāni saṃvārya dvārāṇi manasi sthitaḥ | manasy ekāgratāṃ kṛtvā tat-paraṃ pratipadyate ||
毗湿摩说道:当收摄这一切门户(诸根),安住于心中,应使心一境专注。诸机能既摄于心,求道者全然趋向“彼”,便得超越一切的至上我(Paramātman)。
भीष्म उवाच
Restrain the senses (the mind’s outward ‘gates’), establish the mind in one-pointed concentration, and direct oneself wholly toward the Supreme; such inwardly gathered discipline leads to realization of the Self beyond the senses.
In the Shanti Parva’s instruction on dharma and liberation, Bhishma continues his counsel by describing an inner yogic method: withdrawing the senses, collecting the mind, and attaining the Supreme through focused contemplation.
