Adhyāya 2: Nārada’s Disclosure—Karṇa’s Training and the Brahmin’s Curse (Śānti-parva)

sa tatreṣv astram akarod bhaguśreṣṭhād yathāvidhi | priyaś cābhavad atyartha devadānavarakṣasām ||

Educational Q&A

Power (astra-knowledge) is to be gained and used only through proper discipline and prescribed procedure (yathāvidhi). Such rule-bound conduct fosters trust and esteem even across hostile communities, implying that ethical method matters as much as capability.

Nārada narrates that the person in question, while staying there, duly obtained/learned a missile-weapon from a foremost Bhṛgu sage. As a result, he became highly favored among three major groups—gods, Dānavas, and Rākṣasas—highlighting his broad acceptance and influence.
