Educational Q&A

True spiritual progress is grounded in disciplined restraint (saṁyama), sustained practice (japa and tapas), and study that includes understanding of meaning—not mere mechanical recitation.

Bhishma describes an ascetic undertaking brahminical austerities: controlling the senses and reciting a sacred compendium with disciplined observances, continuing this regimen for a thousand years.
