The verse highlights dharmic etiquette: when receiving instruction or a significant statement from a venerable authority, one should respond with humility and respectful honor. Reverence (pūjā) is presented as an ethical response to wisdom and spiritual stature.
Bhishma narrates to the king that after Bhrigu spoke, Bharadvaja—renowned for righteousness and power—became astonished and then honored Bhrigu, acknowledging his stature and the import of his words.
