जड़मानामसंख्येया: स्थावराणां च जातय: । तेषां विविधवर्णानां कुतो वर्णविनिश्चय:
jaḍamānām asaṅkhyeyāḥ sthāvarāṇāṃ ca jātayaḥ | teṣāṃ vividhavarṇānāṃ kuto varṇaviniścayaḥ ||
婆罗堕阇说道：“走兽、飞禽、人等有情之类，以及树木等不动之类，其种类无量无数；其色相亦复多端。既如此，凭颜色又怎能作出固定的‘姓类’判定？”
