avācinoti karmāṇi na ca sampracīnōti ha | samaḥ sarveṣu bhūteṣu maitrāyaṇagatiś caret ||
毗湿摩说:他唯令已发动之业渐次穷尽,而不再积聚新业。对一切众生心怀平等,他以友善之意行于世间——如待友人般,赐予众生无畏。

A liberated or disciplined person lives out only the already-begun karmic momentum (prārabdha) without creating new karmic bondage, because he is free from doership-ego and attachment to results; he practices impartiality and universal friendliness, giving others a sense of safety.
In the Shanti Parva’s instruction on dharma and liberation, Bhishma continues advising Yudhishthira about the conduct of the wise: how one should live in the world—calm, non-accumulative in karma, and benevolent toward all beings.
