त्रिवर्गविचारः
Tri-varga Deliberation: Dharma, Artha, Kāma
गुरुपूजा च कौरव्य दया भूतेष्वपैशुनम् । जनवादं मृषावादं स्तुतिनिन्दाविसर्जनम्
gurupūjā ca kauravya dayā bhūteṣv apaiśunam | janavādaṃ mṛṣāvādaṃ stutinindāvisarjanam ||
毗湿摩说道:“噢,俱卢族的后裔啊,能制伏其心与诸根者,自然敬事师长,怜悯一切众生,并拒绝诽谤中伤。他舍弃公众丑闻与流言蜚语,舍弃虚妄之言,也舍弃对他人或褒或贬的习气;他不趋向欲、怒、贪、慢、昏钝、夸耀、怨恨、嫉妒,以及侮辱他人等过失。”
भीष्म उवाच
Mastery over mind and senses expresses itself as ethical speech and conduct: reverence for teachers, compassion for all beings, and avoidance of slander, rumor, lying, and the destabilizing habit of praising or blaming others—along with other inner vices.
In Śānti Parva, Bhīṣma instructs Yudhiṣṭhira on dharma after the war. Here he lists the virtues that arise from self-restraint and the faults that such a disciplined person abandons.
