Dasyu-maryādā and Buddhi-guided Rāja-nīti (दस्युमर्यादा तथा बुद्धिप्रधान-राजनीति)
कुमित्रे संगतिर्नास्ति नित्यमस्थिरसौहदे । अवमान: कुसम्बन्धे भवत्यर्थविपर्यये
kumitre saṅgatir nāsti nityam asthira-sauhade | avamānaḥ kusambandhe bhavaty artha-viparyaye ||
与恶友不可能长久相伴,因为那样的情谊恒常不定。若关系本已污浊,一旦利害相左,轻慢与羞辱便必然随之而起。
ब्रह्मदत्त उवाच
Do not expect steady loyalty from a bad friend: such bonds are inherently unstable, and when self-interest shifts, a tainted relationship quickly turns into disrespect and humiliation.
Brahmadatta states a moral observation within the Shanti Parva’s instruction on right conduct: he warns that association with an unworthy friend cannot remain constant, and that corrupt ties tend to produce insult when interests diverge.
