तदेव विस्तरेणोक्तं पूर्वदृष्टं सतां मतम् प्रणेयं राजधर्माणां प्रब्रूहि भरतर्षभ
tad eva vistareṇoktaṃ pūrvadṛṣṭaṃ satāṃ matam | praṇeyaṃ rājadharmāṇāṃ prabrūhi bharatarṣabha ||
尤狄施提罗说道:“噢,婆罗多族中的雄牛啊!你已详尽阐明那卓越的王者之法——为古人所奉行、为智者所认可。如今请将同样的要义以简明而可行的方式再说一遍,使之得以更精确、更有效地遵循。”
युधिछिर उवाच
Royal dharma should be both authoritative (grounded in ancient precedent and the approval of the wise) and practicable; therefore, detailed doctrine must be distilled into a concise form that can be implemented effectively.
In the Śānti Parva’s instruction on governance, Yudhiṣṭhira requests the teacher (addressed as “Bharatarṣabha”) to restate the already-elaborated kingly duties in a brief, actionable summary for easier observance.
