Shloka 13

Durgātitaraṇa—Conduct for Crossing Difficulties (दुर्गातितरणम्)

जिनके शुभ कर्म दिखावेके लिये नहीं होते, जो सदा मीठे वचन बोलते और जिनका धन सत्कर्मोके लिये बँधा हुआ है, वे दुर्गण संकटोंसे पार हो जाते हैं ।।

bhīṣma uvāca | anadhyāyeṣu ye viprāḥ svādhyāyaṃ neha kurvate | taponiṣṭhāḥ sutapaso durgāṇy atitaranti te ||

毗湿摩说道:那些婆罗门在「不诵日」(anadhyāya,依传统暂停吠陀诵习之日)于此不作诵读,而坚定安住于苦行(tapas)者——此等成就的苦行者,能越过可怖的险难。此教亦赞真诚与有纪律的克制:当行持不为炫示,精力系于正法之业,则难渡之危机亦可克服。
