Ānṛśaṃsya, Amātya-Guṇa, and Reconciliatory Counsel (आनृशंस्य–अमात्यगुण–संधि-उपदेशः)
स त्वं धर्ममवेक्षस्व हित्वा लोभमसाम्प्रतम् । नच कामाज्न च द्रोहात् स्वधर्म हातुमहसि,“अनुचित लोभका परित्याग करके तुम धर्मपर ही दृष्टि रखो, कामना अथवा द्रोहसे भी अपने धर्मका परित्याग न करो
sa tvaṁ dharmam avekṣasva hitvā lobham asāmpratam | na ca kāmāj na ca drohāt svadharmaṁ hātum arhasi ||
毗湿摩说道:“因此当观照达摩,摒弃此刻不合时宜的不正之贪。不可因欲望,亦不可因怨毒与背逆,而舍弃自身应守之本分。”
भीष्म उवाच
One should uphold dharma by renouncing improper greed, and should not forsake one’s svadharma under the impulses of desire (kāma) or malice/treachery (droha).
In the Shanti Parva’s instruction on righteous conduct, Bhishma addresses the listener with direct ethical counsel, urging steadfastness in duty and warning against decisions driven by greed, desire, or hostility.
