Chapter 23: Śakuni Reports, Kaurava Advance, and Arjuna’s Penetration of the Host

na punaḥ saubalo rājā yuddham abhyāgamiṣyati |

Educational Q&A

Even in a chaotic war, moral accountability matters: one who instigates conflict but avoids facing its dangers is implicitly censured. The verse highlights the ethical contrast between provoking harm and bearing responsibility.

Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that Śakuni, identified as the Saubala king, has withdrawn and is not expected to re-enter the fighting.
